BFA President Visit Srilankan Community 2009

   On May 10th, 2009 Phrapalad Sudham Sudhammo was invited to join a ceremony of laying the foundation stone for their building at Lankaram temple. Then he visited the abbot of Phap Bao temple, Phrayodkeow temple, Ketanak temple to present them with Dhamma’s books and CD as a token of gratitude for their representation on the UN Vesak Ceremony.

UN Vesak Day 2009 Olympic Park7 2009

   On May 8th, 2009 A UN Vesak Day Ceremony was held at Sydney Olympic Park. The Ceremony was joined by Monks and Lay people from all Buddhist denominations to observe, recall and celebrate the Lord Buddha’s life by Chanting and meditation.

United Nations Day of Vesak

   At the UN Vesak meeting in Thailand which was held on May 4th  to May 6th, Phrapalad Sudham Sudhammo, the president of Buddhist Federation of Australia was among the invited guests from many countries. He had the honour to read a message from Mr. Kevin Rudd, the Prime Minister of Australia at the opening ceremony.

Fund raising function for the UN Vesak

Also on May 7th,A charity dinner was set as a fund raising function for the UN Vesak Day on May 8th at Golden Star Palace. The night was enjoyed by all and fund was raised through tickets sold and the auctions of paintings of Buddha’s life.

Announce the Young Australian Peace Prize
On May 7th, 2009 The Buddhist Federation of Australia has launched the Young Australian Peace Prize at Thai Capital Restaurant in conjunction with A Charity Concert by Howard McCrary.
